Braunton
The village of Braunton is an ideal place for a holiday in North Devon. Often described as England's largest village the history of Braunton dates back to the sixth century when a Welsh missionary, St. Brannock, founded a parish in the area.
The modern village now comprises two distinct areas - the old village with narrow streets and curiosity shops, and the new town which has a great selection of shops selling food and drink, local crafts and gifts.
The fantastic beach at Saunton Sands, is what brings may holidaymakers to the Braunton area This three mile long expanse of sandy beach faces due west with some of the best surf in the area backed by impressive sand dunes.
The scenic Tarka Trail, a 180 mile long network of paths linking the North Coast with Dartmoor is close by and offers fantastic cycle paths and footpaths.
Nearby attractions include the towns of Ilfracombe and Barnstaple, the peaceful splendour of Lundy Island and also majestic Exmoor.
